It was a chilly, windy November afternoon in Tribeca when Kathryn and Chris traveled all the way from Seattle to renew their wedding vows beneath the iconic Staple Street Bridge — and I have to say, this one stayed with me for a long time after. Kathryn was breathtaking in a flowy white silk gown, her hair catching the wind in the most beautiful way, and Chris was sharp in his suit, completely unable to take his eyes off her. The light that afternoon was absolutely perfect — that rare November light that makes everything feel cinematic and a little golden all at once.
These two were so present with each other, so deeply happy and emotional, that I found myself barely needing to direct at all. I just watched them, and photographed everything I saw. There were tears. There were long, quiet embraces. There was so much love between them it was almost palpable. And then, right at the very end, Kathryn grabbed Chris's butt and we all burst out laughing — which honestly might be one of my favorite frame of the entire session.
That is the thing about vow renewals. They carry the weight of everything that came before — every year, every hard moment, every reason they chose each other again. I am so grateful Kathryn and Chris chose New York City, and that they chose me to be there for it.
